Unraveling? Has Veteran’s Day Marked a Turning Point?

Let’s hope not, for all our sakes.  President Trump’s withdrawals this week do not bode well for the American people, or America’s presence on the global stage.  And, current circumstances are not even close to the pressures of the darkest hours many of our President’s have faced (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-stung-by-midterms-and-nervous-about-mueller-retreats-from-traditional-presidential-duties/ar-BBPFXE0?ocid=spartanntp).  Now’s not the time to lose focus or cave in.

MSN’s article captures some onerous clouds that have gathered.  The concerns expressed by staffers privately behind closed doors in Washington can be heard all the way here, in Eden, Utah.  The article points made are cause for considerable worry – worry for the future global leadership position the United States has enjoyed for more than a century.  The President needs to step up, prioritize, leverage his staff, and devise a coherent game plan - and be President of the United States.

This is entirely NOT criticism or a trite attempt to take a jab – that’s not my style.  Quite to the contrary, I want the Boss’s success to appear for us all.  These are serious matters that need to be gotten under control.  My biggest worry is an erosion of American leadership and influence that results in harm to our national security interests that are difficult to fix already, little lone in 24 months when the next opportunity to choose who leads this country appears.

The Boss should have his focus on the meetings of global leaders in Asia (APEC) and upcoming relations with South American leaders – which he’s already cancelled one of (Columbia).  I very much hope he does not get directly involved in this migrant caravan and he hands the matter off to one of his Secretaries.  He should not be wasting his time with this ridiculous side show, a circumstance of his own making.  The main event this month is not a bunch of migrants heading to America’s Southern Border.  The main events are those happening in Asia (APEC) and South America (G-20 Buenos Aires).

The ride’s bumpy folks… let’s hope for the best!
