Democratic Presidential Nominee Biden’s Position on Tara Reade’s 1993 Sexual Assault Claims

Folks, I feel I must comment on this issue because it is in the forefront of the news.

First, my general opinion on sexual assault is the same as most of yours.  No person should find themselves in a situation of sexual assault.  I have a young daughter who is a hospital nurse.  I would be appalled if she called me and said someone at work sexually assaulted her and did not know what to do.  Of course, I would tell her to immediately report the circumstance to the human resources department.  And, though she may have reluctance in doing so because she is new in her job and wants her chance to succeed and not be labeled a trouble maker, I would nonetheless tell her she must report the incident and be passionately comfortable in her reporting of  it even if it costs her job.

My daughter is lucky that she has a family foundation.  She has people in her life she can fall back on.  She knows that there is no such thing as a one and only chance in life to succeed and therefore not have to decide to blow it due to a sexual assault claim.  And, she has been raised to be strong enough to repel such an assault before it ever became a problem because that is the way she was brought up.  She knows the circumstances that can arise and how to avoid them, and not place herself in a vulnerable position.  She knows enough to take ownership for her actions and not be weak when a moment comes to take aggressive self-preservation action.  As a parent, she has been counseled on sexual assault circumstances.  She has been armed with the confidence to strongly repel such an assault before it goes to far with confidence.

But, all parents do not do as thorough a job of training, protecting, or educating their kids.  Therefore, some young ladies grow into adulthood without the tools and confidence they need to deal with sexual assault encounters.  A better job must be done in educating or girls.  And, I recognize that even in spite of best efforts to prepare for a sexual assault circumstance, the encounter can be so traumatic catching a person off guard that a victim finds themselves panicked and frozen in the moment and fails to act as they have been instructed on how to behave in such a circumstance.  No one should have to endure that.

 So, I “Get It.”

Today, Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden says the claim made by Tara Reade is false (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/elections-2020/biden-denies-tara-reades-assault-allegation/ar-BB13sWSU?ocid=spartanntp).  The bottom line is none of us will ever know for sure, unless new evidence surfaces.  He said, she said.  Each of these cases are different.  But, there are no cameras, witnesses, or evidence except he said she said.  This is what we are left with – 27 years after the alleged sexual assault.

So, what are we to think?  My position on what little has come out is that after 27 years is there is no evidence - none that I have heard of except a claim.  Of course, if Joe Biden did this, he should not be president.  And, I can’t say I appreciate Joe Biden in general anyway – I don’t – I think the Berisha Hunter Biden scandal underscores his abuse of position to enrich a family member – unacceptable for a public servant in America.  But, there is not even documentation of a Human Resources complaint in the Reade case.  No written documentation or record by Tara Reade of any sort that has been uncovered.  And even then, could the claim be baseless, or without sufficient evidence, or maybe even retribution of some kind to defame or blackmail Biden for not coming through for her on some other matter she feels betrayed on?  Do you think that’s never happened before?

If you are a victim of a crime like Tara Reade alleges, you need to report it when it happens – period.  Waiting 27 years diminishes the credibility and motives due to the timing behind the claim.  As much as I don’t appreciate Joe Biden, I can’t see giving any weight to Tara Reade’s claims given the evidence presented, and the timing of the claim being brought to light.

If her claim is true, I certainly feel bad for her and empathize with her – and Joe Biden should be strung up.  But human history is full of injustices that cannot be prosecuted or authenticated.  In these cases, what are we to do?  Should we convict everyone solely on the claim of another?  That would be inappropriate too.
